2024 Top Issues Impacting Fabrication Shops

However, this paper introduces new insights into the persistent productivity challenges within the industry, indicating that measurement errors alone may not explain the stagnation:

  1. Physical productivity measurements in housing construction reveal a continuous decline or stagnation over several decades.
  2. Construction firms are prioritizing adding value through production. However, they are becoming less efficient at turning materials into outputs.
  3. State-level data analysis does not show the expected industry reallocation patterns. These patterns indicate the efficient operation of input and output markets.
